This is the traditional ancestor-memorial services. We made this two times a year. This table is more simplified than before.

The whole setting looks similar to a Chinese setting, especially the calligraphy behind.
It looks like Chinese words. My family prayed on Chinese New Year too but not to ancestors. But it varies with different dialects. My friend went to the temple to pray to ancestors too.

Yes, those are Chinese words. Korean language consists of Chinese words and pure Korean words. In the past, Koreans used Chinese words as their written laguage and pure Korean words as their spoken language. Hangul is made about 600 years ago. Then Korean charaters and letters, as you know now, was appeared. Therefore many Korean words that are borrowed from Chinese words in meaning form about 60~70 percent.
